Beta-Galactosidase Avidin D,

A-2300
The b-galactosidase used to prepare b-galactosidase Avidin D is isolated from a special strain of E. coli. The enzyme has an exceptionally high specific activity, allowing a greater degree of sensitivity in assays. Our b-galactosidase has an alkaline pH optimum, unlike the b-galactosidases present in mammalian tissues which all have acidic optima. This reagent can be employed in many solid-phase assays or immunohistochemical systems without interference from endogenous enzyme activity present in the tissues.

One unit is 1 µmole o-nitrophenyl-b-D-galactopyranoside hydrolyzed per min. at 37 °C, pH 7.3.
