| This special formulation of VECTASHIELD® Mounting Medium contains a counterstain for DNA and is ready to use for fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) or any other procedures requiring fluorescent counterstaining of DNA. Counterstain may also stain RNA. Provided at an optimal concentration of 1.5 µg/ml, lower concentrations of DAPI can be achieved by appropriate dilutions with VECTASHIELD® Mounting Medium. |
| DAPI (4’,6 diamidino-2-phenylindole) produces a blue fluorescence with excitation at about 360 nm and emission at about 460 nm when bound to DNA. There is no emission overlap with fluorescein, rhodamine or Texas Red®. |
