| VECTASHIELD® HardSet™ Mounting Medium has the same outstanding anti-fade and anti-photobleaching properties as the original VECTASHIELD® Mounting Medium. VECTASHIELD® HardSet™ has been developed to offer investigators an alternative mounting medium which hardens when slides are coverslipped, facilitating handling and storage. VECTASHIELD® HardSet™ eliminates the spreading of excess mounting medium to work surfaces, avoids tissue damage due to coverslip movement, and is more convenient for use with oil immersion microscopy. |
| VECTASHIELD® HardSet™ is easy to use and simply involves adding a drop from the applicator provided. No tedious mixing is required. VECTASHIELD® HardSet™ is compatible with most standard fluorophores including fluorescein (FITC), Texas Red®, and rhodamine. Specimens labeled immunofluorescently will retain their intensity for several weeks when mounted with VECTASHIELD® HardFSet™ and stored in the dark at 4ºC. |
| This special formulation contains a counterstain for DNA and is ready to use for fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) or any other procedures requiring fluorescent counterstaining of DNA. Counterstain may also stain RNA. Provided at an optimal concentration of 1.5 µg/ml. |
| DAPI (4’,6 diamidino-2-phenylindole) produces a blue fluorescence with excitation at about 360 nm and emission at about 460 nm when bound to DNA. There is no emission overlap with fluorescein, rhodamine or Texas Red®. |
