This substrate can be used for all applications requiring a precipitating reaction product. This substrate forms a blue reaction product and sections can be cleared with either xylene or xylene substitutes. The sensitivity of this substrate can be increased by lengthening the incubation times to several hours. BCIP/NBT is an ideal substrate for developing transblots or dot blots and for enzyme detection of in situ hybridization.
